On this tour you visit and become familiar with the two largest Italian gardens in Florence.
In 1549, Grand-Duke Cosimo I Medici commissioned Tribolo, architect, sculptor and landscape gardener, to create the Boboli Garden. As a result, he converted the hill behind the Palazzo Pitti into an extraordinarily beautiful garden which became the setting for lavish pageants and also a natural continuation to the palace. It has been used as a model for Versailles and for the gardens of the Zars of Russia. The original project was enriched by sculptures, fountains, grottos and a beautiful amphitheater which was used until the 1950’s for venues connected to the Pitti fashion show.
A short distance from Boboli, is the Bardini Garden, named after the antiquarian and art collector Stefano Bardini, who donated it to the city. Here we find 4 hectares of remarkable beauty divided between a wooded area, fruit trees and a garden from which it is possible to enjoy one of the most spectacular views of Florence.
